The Nylas Communications Platform drastically reduces the effort it takes to build and maintain an integration with IMAP accounts. With just a few lines of code, you can integrate full email, calendar, and contacts functionality into your application.
Nylas offers two solutions for authenticating user accounts: hosted and native, and these solutions require slightly different approaches to authenticating IMAP accounts.
If you decide to use Nylas hosted authentication, integrating IMAP accounts requires no additional effort on your part. Nylas will automatically detect server settings where possible, and prompt users to input server details if automatic detection isn’t possible. Nylas stores user credentials securely on our SOC 2 certified infrastructure.
If you use native authentication, Nylas recognizes some IMAP providers automatically (such as AOL, and Yahoo) and requires only the user email address and password to authenticate. Other IMAP providers can be integrated by passing the server connection details when you authenticate a user account.
